So you want to get the most out of your workout and achieve the best results at the gym? Do you feel like you are in a workout slump and you want to supercharge your exercise time? There are a few things that you can do that will help you exercise better and improve your results.
Keep these great tips in mind:
Create a Power Playlist
Listening to your favourite music while you are working out can put you in a great mood and can give you the energy to push yourself further and harder. Put together a playlist of tunes that make you feel happy and energised and let them inspire and pump you up during your workout. Every now and then you can switch up your playlist to keep it new and exciting.
Keeping well hydrated is a key factor in being able to push yourself to the limit. When you are dehydrated you will lose approximately 10% of your strength and will also decrease your energy level. If you are thirsty your body is already dehydrated, so avoid getting dehydrated in the first place by sipping water throughout the day and increasing your intake before, during and after a workout.
Eat Slow Carbs before Workouts
In order to increase your energy and improve your workout it is important to eat slow-digesting carbohydrates such as whole grains for before you hit the gym. This will lower your insulin levels and supply you with a source of slow-burning energy that will give you fuel for your workout.
Track Your Progress
Whether you track your progress on a smart phone app, in a notebook or on a chart, keeping a record of how well you have performed can be very inspiring. When you see yourself improving it will keep you motivated to stay in shape. You can even set goals and treat yourself to a reward when you reach those goals – such as buying yourself a new outfit when you reach your goal weight or rewarding yourself with a gift when you are able to lift a certain amount of weight.
Try Something New
Have you been doing the same workout for weeks and weeks? Not only are you missing out on exercising other muscles and challenging your body in new ways, you are also running the risk of getting bored and losing motivation. If you feel like you are in a workout rut why not try a new type of workout? Or, perhaps you could consider joining a class such as Zumba or martial arts in order to try a new method of exercise? Check out the options for classes that your gym has to offer – you just might find something that you love.
These are just a few things that you can do to boost your gym workout. Infuse a little something different into your workout and make sure that you are fuelled and hydrated – so that you can achieve your best results!
